New Booksies

 

  

New books I’ve acquired since my last post:

• Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken; YA; Australian edition from Netgalley. I can’t find a full-sized shot of the Aussie cover, so I’ve used the US one up there. Mini version of the Aussie cover on the right.
• +1 achievement unlocked book is Ms Cellophane by Gillian Pollack, an Australian author I’m very much looking forward to reading
• The Price of Fame by RC Daniells (aka Rowena Cory Daniells) arrived unexpectedly from the author. I was only expecting The Outcast Chronicles, so this was a pleasant surprise. Already reviewed.
• Exempt from my read three-buy-one scheme because Pratchett, I bought his latest novel, Dodger. Despite the cover, it’s not a Discworld book, so I’m not entirely sure what to expect.
• I got a copy of What’s Left of Me by Kat Zhang from the publisher on Netgalley. It’s a debut YA book which sounds weird in a spec fic but hard to say which subgenre way (without reading it, anyway). So that should be interesting.

Only three new books this post because I’m on a book-buying ban. We’ve changed it, though, so that instead of limiting to one book a week (since a blanket ban is never going to work), it’s I’m allowed to buy one new book for every three books I read.

Also, they are coincidentally all YA and all sequels.

• Ascend by Amanda Hocking, the final instalment in the Trylle Trilogy. From iTunes and before the new buying regime because I had a sequel loophole or some other flimsy excuse. Already reviewed here.
• Insurgent by Veronica Roth, which I had preordered from iTunes a while ago, yay.
• Thumped by Megan McCafferty because sequel to Bumped which was pretty great (and which I read last year, hence no review) and I pre-ordered it from Book Depository a while ago. Also, it’s really short so I expect to be reviewing it soon.

Yay, books. Theoretically, the whole read-three-buy-one thing should mean these new books posts will be less frequent. *cough*we’llsee*/cough*
